The short version: We collect only what we need to run the app. We never sell your data. Your memories are yours.

1. Who We Are

Memory Maps ("we," "us," or "our") is the company behind the Memory Maps mobile application and website at memorymap.site. Questions? Contact us at support@memorymap.site.

2. Information We Collect

  • Account Information: Email address, display name, and password (hashed and encrypted).
  • Memory Content: Photos, journal entries, notes, and location pins you create. Never accessed by our team without your explicit request.
  • Location Data: GPS coordinates only when you actively create or edit a memory. Never tracked in the background.
  • Device Information: Device type, OS version, and app version for diagnostics.
  • Usage Data: Anonymized, aggregated data that cannot be linked back to you.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the Memory Maps app.
  • Sync your memories securely across your devices.
  • Send important account and service notifications.
  • Respond to support requests and troubleshoot issues.
  • Improve features based on anonymized usage patterns.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

We do not use your content to train machine learning models or for advertising.

4. Sharing of Information

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. We may share data only with trusted service providers (under confidentiality obligations), when required by law, when you explicitly share a memory collection, or in the event of a business transfer (with prior notice to you).

5. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on secure servers using AES-256 encryption at rest and TLS in transit. Your memory content is encrypted such that only you can access it — Memory Maps employees cannot read your private memories.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all data is permanently deleted within 30 days, except where required by law.

7. Your Rights

  • Access: Request a copy of your personal data.
  • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your account and data.

9. Cookies & Tracking

Our website uses only essential session cookies. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site tracking. The app does not use cookies.
